I have always struggled with asthma. When I was two, I had my first attack and have been having them ever since. Im 21 now and asthma is still a daily issue for me. Recently however, I decided I was tired of letting asthma control my life and decide what I can and cannot do. As a result, I made the outrageous decision to sign up for a half marathon in February. That’s 13.1 miles folks. I’ve never ran more than a full mile without whipping out my trusty albuterol and calling it quits. But, I’m not going to let a little (okay a lot) of huffing and puffing stop me anymore. I want to prove to myself that I can do anything as long as I put my mind to it.
In the next few months I hope to share some of my stories and maybe some tips for my fellow wheezers and wannabe athletes as I learn to run the 13.1. Wish me luck! I’m going to need it!
